What are metal tiers?

Metal tiers are a way to segment various coverage categories. For example, if you want less out-of-pocket expenses, you will select coverage from a higher metal tier like “gold.”

Bronze tier

Best suited for low utilizers. If you’re healthy and mainly use preventive care
Lowest monthly premium, but higher out-of-pocket costs when you use healthcare services
In 2027, Bronze Exchange plans are HSA-qualified even if they don't meet traditional IRS HDHP requirements

Silver tier

Best for those with more healthcare needs beyond preventive care
Monthly cost is higher than a Bronze plan, but your out-of-pocket costs are slightly lower when you use healthcare services
Cost-sharing reduction plans are only available on this tier

Gold tier

Higher monthly premium with lower out-of-pocket costs when you need care
This is a plan for the person who is a high user of healthcare – multiple health conditions, needs specialty care or takes several prescription medications

Security Health Plan is a Qualified Health Plan (QHP) issuer through the Federally-facilitated Exchange. Pediatric dental services, as required under the Affordable Care Act, are not included in this policy. Stand-alone dental plans are available for purchase with the Marketplace. Please contact Security Health Plan or the Federally-facilitated Exchange if you are interested in purchasing pediatric dental or stand-alone dental coverage.

For our Qualified Health Plans, Security Health Plan does not use quality measures, member experience measures or cost-related measures to select practitioners or hospitals.
