Security Health Plan of Wisconsin, Inc., together with Sanford Health Plan, is a provider-owned health plan that is part of Sanford Health, one of the largest non-profit, rural health systems in the country. We are committed to helping members in Wisconsin and throughout the Midwest achieve their best health.

Our history
Our history in helping members obtain affordable health care costs goes back to 1971 when we were founded as the Greater Marshfield Community Health Plan, the first health maintenance organization (HMO) in Wisconsin, and the first rural HMO in the nation. The health plan became Security Health Plan in 1986.
Our growth
In the intervening years we have grown significantly, and now serve more than 205,000 across Wisconsin.
