Emergency Room Procedures

  • Security Health Plan will not impose barriers to patient care.
  • Patient may access ER services without prior authorization.

Protocol: Emergency room services

  • ER staff will provide needed services. 
  • The ER doctor has the option to refer the member to his/her PCP for on-going follow-up care.

Providers are encouraged to remind members to use their PCP during regular business hours for non-emergency care needs. In addition, providers are asked to remind members that Security Health Plan has a 24-hour Nurse Phone Line that is available to Security Health Plan members at any time.
