Research your medications to save money

Get the most value out of your pharmacy benefit by understanding the medications covered under your plan. Taking time to understand how your pharmacy benefit works can help lower your out-of-pocket drug costs. More information about how to make the best use of your pharmacy benefit and save yourself money can be found in our booklet: Pharmacy Services: A Money-Saving Guide.

Use the online drug search below to look up the medications you take in our list of prescription medications, often called a formulary, that are covered under your health insurance plan. A team of on-staff physicians and pharmacists reviews information on new and existing drugs and regularly updates the formulary with drugs that are safe and effective.  The drug search below is updated by the fifth business day of the month. Our goal is to ensure that you have access to high-quality, cost-effective drugs.

For your convenience you can view a copy of our abridged formulary here. You can also use the quick links at the right to find more information about your prescription drug coverage. Click on Drug Safety News for the latest drug recall information as released by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

Medications are assigned to tiers. Each tier has a different cost share depending on your coverage. Medications on tier 1 are covered at the lowest cost share and will cost you the least. They include most generic medications. Tier 2 medications are preferred brands and select generics. Tier 3 medications are non-preferred brands and select generics. Tier 4 medications are specialty medications and some very high cost brands and generics.

You will save money by using generic drugs whenever available. If you request the brand name product for a medication where a generic is available, you must pay the applicable copayment or coinsurance plus an ancillary charge. The ancillary charge is the cost difference between the brand name product and the generic product. The ancillary charge will not count towards your out-of-pocket limit for prescriptions.
