Why workplace wellness?

Security Health Plan is dedicated to improving the health of our members and the communities we serve. This is why we have partnered with WebMD, a leader in online health information, and offer our wellness services to members at no additional cost*.

On average, Americans working full-time spend more than one-third of their day, five days a week at work making the workplace the ideal place to provide wellness services. Well-designed workplace programs and policies can reduce health risks, improve quality of life, increase productivity, and more. Our team of health educators, nurses and other professionals will work with your business to offer evidence-based and data-driven programs.

What we do

Our wellness approach is based on evidence based principles:

1. Health assessment

Our health assessment is fast, interactive, and in about 10-minutes provides participants with an overall picture of their current health, along with a personalized plan to address high risk behaviors. For members with a Marshfield Clinic provider, a summary report of their health assessment results is added to their electronic medical record.

2. Annual preventive exam

People with access to a regular primary care provider are more likely to receive recommended preventive services and timely care for medical conditions before they become more serious and more costly to treat. A preventive exam is also the ideal setting for conducting biometric screenings. Screenings completed as part of a preventive exam gives the provider an opportunity to address results outside recommended ranges and to work with the patient on a treatment plan to reduce health risks and improve health outcomes.

3. Health coaching

A health coach offers support, motivation and guidance to help participants meet their health and wellness goals. We use both health assessment results and claims data to outreach high risk individuals for coaching.

4. Integrated care management

Health coaches work closely with nurse and social worker care managers to ensure member care needs are met. Members are also identified for services using a predictive risk score and through referrals from providers and other sources. Care managers work with members to address gaps in care, signs and symptoms, medication adherence, and barriers to care.

5. Social responsibility

Our commitment is not just to the health of our members, but the well-being of the whole community.   • Achieve Achieve is designed to bring participants into recommended cholesterol ranges by helping them to improve medication adherence, work more effectively with their health care team, lose weight, improve nutrition habits and increase physical activity levels.
  • Balance – Ask people why their weight loss efforts fail and they will usually say the diet wasn't for them. It was too hard, too boring or ineffective. Balance is a weight management program that addresses the participant's unique blend of mind, body and food.
  • Breathe – Learn seven key characteristics important for quitting tobacco, such as the ability to cope with stress, prior quit experiences, support from family and friends and much more.
  • Care for your Back – Provides participants with a personalized plan of techniques to help ease back pain and get them back to doing the things they enjoy.
  • Care for Your Blood Pressure – This program is designed to bring participants into recommended blood pressure ranges by helping them to improve medication adherence, work more effectively with their health care team, lose weight, improve nutrition habits and increase physical activity levels.
  • Move – The Move program guides participants from their first step toward a more active lifestyle into making it a daily routine. Based on their responses, participants receive a personalized physical activity program addressing their unique needs.
  • Nourish – This program delivers an individually personalized nutrition plan. This plan clearly explains federal dietary guidelines and the relationship between good health and good nutrition. Proper understanding of these elements helps participants increase energy and productivity levels, feel in control of their eating habits, manage their weight and live longer, healthier lives.
  • Relax – Relax is a stress management program that teaches techniques to relieve stress from all things big and small.
