Poison Prevention

Eliminate potential poison hazards. Poisonings occur in infants or children who have access to toxic substances. In some situations poison may be used in a suicide attempt. In older persons, the poison is usually taken mistakenly.

  • Keep poisonous substances, including medications, secured and out of the reach of children.
  • Keep all substances in original containers with labels intact.
  • Discard all unused medications, household cleaners, and paint.
  • Have poison control center emergency numbers available by your phone.
